SO YOU HAVEN'T BEEN PUBLISHED YET?!!?UNTITLED TALESAre you looking for an outlet for your creative forces? Are you looking to get that all-important publishing experience? Are you looking for a home for your ideas? Spartacus Publishing is looking for the best and brightest in graphic storytelling for the anthology UNTITLED TALES. Any story, any genre, any style, if it meets our criteria, it's in. Looking
to break into the industry? Have
a story, but no venue? Curious
about self-publishing but not able to make that leap? Welcome to UNTITLED TALES! THE FACTS We want to be up front, there is no pay involved! We really do wish we could give you money for your brainchildren, but historically titles like this do poorly in the market and if this project is to succeed every dime of profit needs to be plowed back into production. As compensation for your hard work, your creative team receives twelve copies of the book per page published. Your team gives us four pages of story; your team gets 48 copies. Hopefully, in the years to come we can transform UNTITLED TALES into a professional venue where the artists can receive the recognition due them and the monies they deserve. Until that time your patience is greatly appreciated. All rights are yours to keep. It is up to the team to decide how far to take the legalities of copyright protection (though we believe it is in your best interest to go as far as is feasible) we will simply indicate that your story is copyrighted to the entire team. We will only take original and complete stories: beginning, middle and end. If it doesn't end it won't be published. If you have a serialization in mind, fine, but each installment needs to tell a complete story in and of itself. If for some unforeseen reason another installment does not see print, readers are not left in the lurch waiting for the end. We are seeking the best, but it should be noted that the goal is to reach a wide audience. That means only stories appropriate for general readership will be accepted for publication. If you are not sure of your story's content, we would be glad to look over the submission and let you know. Artwork, which includes penciling, inking and lettering, must be of sufficient quality to be published. Writing needs to present whole stories with a begining, middle and end. Pencilers must be able to render what they are drawing clearly and tell a story. Inking has to be clean and enhance the penciling. Lettering need not be computerized, but does need to be legible and somewhat consistent to the artwork. Our projects are basically your projects. You can submit anything you believe is of quality to see print. Essentially, the primary motive behind UNTITLED TALES is to provide experience for the creative teams that have not yet broken through. Publishing experience is essential for success in this industry. It proves ability and provides validation for the professional artist. We want to provide an arena where creative people can get their feet wet. The secondary focus for the comic is to give voice to those stories that might never see print for one reason or another. Small stories or interesting one-shots that larger publishers do not bother with can find a home in UNTITLED TALES. SEQUENTIAL ART Comic books are sequential art. We will always prefer and give greater consideration to work that features sequential art. This, however, is not an absolute. If you submit a series of theme pieces or an illustrated poem we will be glad to review it. Though our production mode is comic books, and all the baggage that follows, we understand that the medium is one of the most fluid and liberating forums of artistic expression accessible by the public. We most definitely do not want to discourage any submission simply on the grounds of format. Quality should always be given a chance to rise to its zenith. THE PAST Many of your reading this will remember a previous incarnation of this Book. The original UNTITLED TALES was a great idea and a Fun project. It faltered from a lack of stories and we never got to see the second issue. More's the pity, as the second issue looked better than the first. As noted below, one of the things that we are looking to ensure Is that when we proceed with this project we will be working far in advance of any deadlines. If you want to see your story in print time is running out!! THE FUTURE The short-term goal of this project is to get enough material ready for three entire issues of untitled tales before we go to press. We will group the stories submitted to get the strongest books possible. The first issue will be available at the San Diego Comic Con International in 2002. Subsequent issues will publish every quarter as long as there is interest from the consumer and stories to tell them. As stated above we prefer stories that will appeal to the largest audience so content may be a concern. If there is a strong interest and enough appealing stories of adult content the possibility of a side project exists. This project, UNCENSORED TALES, will be dependent on the quality and quantity of material. In other words, we'll see. SUBMISSIONS HERE'S THE INFO ON HOW TO SUBMIT TO US.
